Guide to RO Ragnarok Online Priest Class
Clerics are indispensable members when it comes to raiding bosses and dungeons. After obtaining the skill "Blessing of the Holy Mother" (Double Defense +100%) in the advanced second job, their importance within a team becomes even more undeniable. Whether it's challenging Niflheim, MVP battles, or extreme events, having a support cleric is essential. Both free-to-play and pay-to-play cleric players have their own strengths. Free-to-play players can focus on pure praise, becoming a professional support cleric, while pay-to-play players might consider going the exorcist route.
Specializations
There are four main specializations: Praise, Agility, Exorcism, and Judgment.
1. Praise: This is a beloved specialization, but due to its focus on support skills, it levels up the slowest. It's recommended to have it as a secondary weapon and combine it with Agility and Exorcism specializations for leveling.
2. Agility: When equipped with a Golden Hammer, Holy Water, and Gear, agility clerics are specialists in dealing with undead and demon enemies, and they level up efficiently without lagging behind other physical classes. However, as monster HP increases significantly in the late game, it's worth considering transitioning to the Exorcism specialization after acquiring an 80-level exorcism weapon and enhancing it to +10 or higher (ideally +15). For mid-game leveling and completing the Bestiary, choosing the Agility specialization is advised.
3. Exorcism: After reaching level 80, refining the exorcism weapon to +15 will grant the "Enhanced Exorcism" effect, which, when combined with Exorcism pre-reading Gear, transforms clerics into versatile support fighters. This becomes the ultimate form for late-game leveling. If you still can't enhance it to +15, it's recommended to switch to the Exorcism specialization after entering the Ancient City. Before reaching level 80, due to lengthy casting times, average damage output, and the need to spend a substantial amount of coins on blue magic ores, microtransactions often lead to bankruptcy before reaching level 60, so starting with the Exorcism specialization during the early and mid-game isn't recommended.
4. Judgment: The Judgment specialization is suitable for clerics at level 80 and above. If you already have a powerful character, combining it with a +15 Judgment weapon can provide excellent damage output in 3v3 battles, while during leveling, it's important to seek higher-level undead and demon monsters for training. However, this specialization places high demands on the character's strength, and there are no specific Judgment Gear available, which is why it's not the mainstream choice. Most high-level cleric players in the Korean version still prefer the Exorcism specialization when it comes to damage output.
Skill Allocation
In the first job, essential skills to invest points in are "Blessing of the Angel," "Acceleration," "Healing," and "Angel's Barrier." The remaining 5 points can be allocated to "Banishing Evil." Since "Banishing Evil" and the advanced second job skill "Prayer of the Holy Mother" have overlapping effects, it's not necessary to max it out in the later stages. However, it remains useful in PvP situations before advancing to the second job. "Instant Teleportation" can be replaced with "Wings of the Fly," but if you're accustomed to using it in PvP, you can still consider learning it based on personal preference.
In the second job, you should invest points in "Resurrection," "Barrier of Darkness," "Cure," and "Blessing of Holy Water." If your team consists of more physical classes in the long term, prioritize learning "Divine Blessing" and "Song of Luck." "Zen Mind" is a prerequisite skill for the advanced second job skill "Meditation," which is important but can be learned later after prioritizing other essential second job skills. "Radiant Sanctuary" is quite useful in the mid-game, as it can heal multiple targets simultaneously. However, its drawback is that the healing amount doesn't increase with your magical attack power, making it less effective in the later stages. It's still a handy skill before reaching level 80, so consider learning it early and then consider resetting it to "Barrier of Light" in the later stages to enhance your ranged attack defense. "Holy Song of Mana" can be replaced with blue potions, and you can consider learning it later if you have the spare points.
In the advanced second job, essential skills include "Prayer of the Holy Mother" for increased double defense, and "Meditation" for enhanced healing. Secondary recommended skills are "Silence Spell," which is extremely useful in PvP, "Angelic Fury" for additional damage to high damage skills, and "Divine Sanctuary" for short-term damage immunity. The purpose of "Divine Sanctuary" is to block high-damage instakill skills from bosses, so it only requires 1 point. Increasing its level will significantly extend the casting time. "Mana Reduction" to save SP can be replaced with blue potions, and you can consider learning it when you have spare points.
Agility Specialization
Agility specialization is considered an optional path during the growth stages. Ensure you have the core essential skills, and the remaining skill points can be allocated based on personal preference.
In the first job, essential skills to invest points in are "Blessing of the Angel," "Acceleration," "Angel's Body," and "Angel's Barrier." The remaining skill points can be allocated according to your preference, such as "Healing" or "Banishing Evil." In the second job, you should invest points in "Divine Blessing," "Blunt Weapon Proficiency," "Judgment of the Holy," and "Blessing of Holy Water." The remaining skill points can be distributed as you like. However, it's important to note that the purpose of learning "Judgment of the Holy" is to gain its passive effects. After learning it, do not add it to your automatic skill rotation, as doing so may increase SP consumption and potentially slow down your monster-killing speed. In the advanced second job, essential skills to invest points in are "Advanced Blunt Weapon Proficiency" and "Devotee of the Holy Way." The remaining skill points can be allocated according to your preference.
Exorcism Specialization
In the first job, essential skills to invest points in are "Blessing of the Angel," "Acceleration," "Healing," and "Angel's Barrier." A secondary recommended skill is "Divine Light," which is a prerequisite skill for the advanced second job skill "Judgment." In the second job, the essential exorcism skills to invest in are "Crucifix Demonic Attack" and the prerequisite skill "Rebirth Lv. 5." Secondary recommended skills include "Barrier of Darkness" and "Barrier of Light," which can be evenly distributed to adapt to various types of late-game bosses. If you wish to max both barriers, you may need to sacrifice the advanced second job skill "Judgment" or other praise skills. Essential praise skills to invest in are "Resurrection," "Cure," and "Blessing of Holy Water," with the goal of having both the main exorcism and secondary praise specializations.
In the advanced second job, essential skills to invest points in are "Devotee of the Holy Way" and "Blessing of Sacrifice." A secondary recommended skill is "Judgment." "Blessing of Sacrifice" can reduce skill casting time, which is crucial for exorcist clerics. Even with Golden Gears, it should be prioritized for maxing out. Only after obtaining the red gears that reduce casting time can you consider resetting "Blessing of Sacrifice" and reallocating points to other skills. The purpose of "Judgment" is to generate extra damage during the cooldown of "Crucifix Demonic Attack." The remaining points can be used to learn praise skills.
Attribute Allocation Recommendations
Agility (Agility Specialization): Start by allocating points to AGI until it reaches 99, and then invest in STR (Strength). Praise (Praise Specialization): Allocate points to INT until it reaches 99, and it is recommended to have around 40 DEX (Dexterity). Allocate any remaining points to VIT (Vitality). Exorcism (Exorcism Specialization): Distribute points in INT and DEX at a ratio of 3:2 (INT to DEX).
